We sell two types of Turmeric: 

The House Blend: A balanced, fragrant and flavourful high-curcumin, high-oleoresin blend of boiled and unboiled mountian turmeric, along with revered landrace varieties like allepey, salem, erode and their modern descendants. This mix is perfect for everything from food to cosmetic use.

100% Mountain Turmeric: Originally from the famous Lakadong and now naturalized in our own mountain farm, this is 100% pure high curcumin turmeric. Blend of boiled and unboiled. 

For all-purpose use, we recommend the house blend. If you have a specific use for single-variant turmeric, then try the 100% mountian turmeric.

A note on Turmeric Processing:

All turmeric across India is generally boiled in alkaline water after harvest and then dried. This is an old practice that is claimed to concentrate and "activate" certain compounds, with a trade-off in the loss of some aromatic and medicinal compounds. Turmeric thats not boiled before drying retains a much larger set of the original compounds in the root, but has less colour, less shelf life, and a more rustic texture, but supposedly higher medicinal value and fragrance. 

There's also different types of Turmeric-- some having higher curcumin, some having more aromatic, oils and medicinal compounds. Each have their own subtle differences in taste and claimed benefits.
